Make & Take: 6 Upcycled Bottle Cap Magnets with Tiny Toys
WEDNESDAY, JULY 31: 11:00-12:30
Do you have a crafty 8-16 year old? Join teacher-librarian and Tiny Toy Co. founder Rebecca Saha for this cool Upcycled Bottlecap Magnets make & take.
This is a drop-off workshop in the Kingsway neighbourhood of Toronto (address available on booking.) We'll start with a tour of the workroom, and learn how Tiny Toy Co. is collecting and repurposing toy waste. Then, we'll work together to make 6 of these adorable and super-strong magnets using upcycled tiny toys and bottle caps. Note: due to 24 hr drying time of the resin used, the rare earth magnets will be glued onto your hardened work the following day by staff, and your your finished project will be mailed to you or available for pick-up (your choice.)
Your will Make & Take:
- 6 upcycled bottle cap magnets made re-using unwanted tiny toys, used & washed bottle caps, paper, BPA-free/no-VOC epoxy resin
- Activity card with instructions to make more at home
While together, we'll share our ideas and learn about the power kids have to affect change in their own garbage production, for the future of their environment.
Stay and eat a packed lunch in the shady backyard, then join me for the FREE Volunteer Drop-In that afternoon, sorting toys in the Tiny Toy Co. workroom!
Parents and younger children are very welcome to join for lunch and/or volunteering, however supervision can be provided during the afternoon work session. Learn how family volunteerism can build community, as we tackle our toy waste plastics crisis together.
While here, check out our selection of refurbished and upcycled games, books, toys, and activities in person. You'll save 25% on any purchases made and avoid shipping costs!
