Join Tiny Toy Co. founder & teacher-librarian, Rebecca Saha, in the Common Threads space for this 3-hour, upcycled craft workshop. I'll be working with a maximum of 14 participants. Each participant will make at least 1 whimsical bottle cap magnet, and 1 Scrabble name ornament (see pictures) with the option to return to either station and make more, as time permits. Each participant will also go home with instructions, so they can repeat the crafts with family and friends!*
Who: 6-12 year olds, with a maximum enrolment of 14 participants; parents are welcome to drop off or stay and learn with your child(ren), as preferred.
What: We'll make upcycled bottle cap magnets, and upcycled Scrabble name ornaments for seasonal holiday giving.
When: Sunday, December 1, 1:00-4:00 PM
Where: Common Threads, 2126 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON M4C 1J9. Phone (416) 904-3327.
Why: Kids love being able to make and give their own gifts! The environmental stewardship learning, and hands-on skills development make this a meaningfully educational workshop.
How: We'll work together to learn about the safe (assisted) use of materials and tools, including rare earth magnets, mitre box and saw, safety goggles, glue gun, and no-VOC/BPA-free liquid resin. All our projects are presented with a focus on kid-powered problem-solving (e.g., each Scrabble tray can hold 9 letters, so there are various ways to maximize the utility of each wooden tray; a 6-letter name ornament will leave a residual tray that can be used for a 3-letter name ornament.) Your child will come home empowered, and excited to share their learning with others, which they can do using our trademarked instructions cards!
NO TICKET TO PRINT. WE WILL HAVE A LIST OF PARTICIPANTS ON-HAND.
*Upcycled bottle cap magnets can either be picked up the next day, due to liquid resin drying time, or can be built upon the underside of your own muffin tin, brought from home, to allow careful carrying home on the day of the workshop.
